Sera Evans-Fear

Sera Evans-Fear is the Plaid Cymru candidate for Rhondda constituency in the Welsh General Election to be held on the 5th May 2011. She can be contacted via e-mail SeraEvans-Fear@plaidcymru.org 

 

Sêra Evans-Fear, 28, is currently a Plaid Councillor for Treorci Ward. She was born and bred in Cwmparc and now lives in Treorci with her husband and son. Sêra was educated at Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Ynyswen, Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda and the University of Oxford, where she graduated with a Masters degree in Modern Languages. She has taught German and French at secondary level in South Wales and English in Germany.

Alongside her role as local Councillor, Sêra works for the University of Glamorgan as a Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer. Her role involves working and engaging with young people on a daily basis. She is also a member of the Higher Education Liaison Officers' Association. Sêra is a member of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council's Education and Lifelong Learning Scrutiny Committee.

Sêra's vision for the Rhondda includes providing support for new and existing co-operatives, in addition to attracting investment to the area, improving the road infrastructure and transport system and thereby creating opportunities for employment. Sêra is a keen advocate of Plaid Cymru's third language proposals, and believes that modern foreign languages should be taught in primary schools to improve the linguistic ability of our nation, and thereby ensure it can compete on the global stage.
