Plaid AM responds to news of Unilever jobs threat

Plaid Cymru has responded with concern to the news that 450 jobs with Unilever are at threat in Wales. The company’s managers have announced that the jobs are at threat at its office in Ewloe, its Swansea factory and its distribution site in Bridgend. Bethan Jenkins AM has called on the Labour Government to respond to the situation and has vowed to do all she can to put pressure on the government to help the company.

Bethan Jenkins, Plaid Cymru AM for South Wales West, said:

“I’m very distressed to hear that my region will be taking the lion’s share of these proposed redundancies. Swansea and Bridgend really do not want to be suffering further job losses at this time, and I will be taking the matter up urgently with the First Minister and with the company. We need better solutions than what has been offered here.”
