12/06/2022    Action needed from Government to safeguard small business jobs

The Labour Welsh government needs to commit now to extending business rate relief in order to safeguard jobs in small businesses.  That was the message today from Plaid Cymru Economy Spokesperson, Alun Ffred Jones AM.  Responding to a government commissioned report on business rates, Mr Jones said that a commitment from the government now, regardless of any UK Government decision in the future, would mean that small businesses could plan ahead in these difficult economic times and potentially enable them to avoid having to make staff redundant.

Welsh Government fails to recognise the tangible benefits of taxation powers

Plaid Cymru has criticised the First Minister for failing to accept the importance of taxation powers to respond to the economic crisis. In response to questions from the leader of Plaid Cymru Leanne Wood, the First Minister denied that tax-varying powers could help deliver the economy out of recession.
