Tribute to fallen soldiers on Remembrance Day

On Armistice Day, the Leader of Plaid Cymru Ieuan Wyn Jones has paid tribute to soldiers who have given their lives in conflict.

Mr Jones said that it is important to remember soldiers who have lost their lives and have been injured in warzones all over the world, and that Remembrance Day is a motivation to work for peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

Speaking before laying a wreath in the national Service of Remembrance for Wales on Sunday, the Leader of Plaid Cymru Ieuan Wyn Jones said:

"Remembrance Day is always a sombre occasion, that compels us to think about the effects of war. Each day, soldiers lose their lives and are injured in conflicts across the world, and partners, parents and children lose their loved ones. There are families in Wales who are coming to terms with losing loved ones in Afghanistan, and our deepest sympathies go out to them.

"On Armistice day and Remembrance Sunday we pay tribute to these soldiers, but the greatest tribute we can pay is to work tirelessly for peaceful resolutions to conflicts throughout the world."
