30/09/2021    Double Celebration for Plaid Cymru in Gwynedd By-Elections

There were double celebrations last night (Thursday 29 Sept) for Plaid Cymru in Gwynedd as two new Councillors joined the party ranks. Plaid gained a seat from Llais Gwynedd at Diffwys and Maenofferen Ward, Blaenau Ffestiniog as 45 year old Mandy Williams-Davies was elected Gwynedd Councillor. Plaid now hold all three seats at Blaenau Ffestiniog. 53 year old Gareth Thomas with an emphatic win ensured the Plaid seat at Penrhyndeudraeth Ward was secured, winning 61% of the vote.

It has emerged that the Labour Welsh government has today (Friday, 30 September 2021) written to farmers to inform them that there will no longer be any financial recognition in Wales of those farms that operate in Less Favoured Areas (LFA)
