Nerys Evans is the Plaid Cymru candidate for Carmarthen West constituency in the Welsh National Election to be held on the 5th May 2011. She can be contacted via e-mail at NerysEvans@plaidcymru.org .

Nerys Evans is Plaid’s Director of Policy and was elected to the National Assembly in 2007. She holds Plaid’s Education portfolio and chairs both Cross-Party Groups on Epilepsy and Broadband in Rural Wales. Nerys was born and bred in Llangain and now lives in Carmarthen where her family work as Funeral Directors.

A former member of St Peters Young Farmers Club, Nerys read Politics at Manchester University and began working as Plaid Cymru Community Organiser in Carmarthen East in 2002. Since her election to the National Assembly in 2007 Nerys has made a great impression and has support from across the political spectrum. A tireless campaigner for west Wales, she is energetic, experienced and effective.

Nerys was awarded ‘Campaigner of the Year’ by ITV in 2008, and her passion to work for the people of west Wales led Nerys to relinquish the relative safety of a regional list seat to fight for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire in 2011.
