Neil McEvoy is Plaid’s first ever Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council. Neil is a popular, straight talking politician who won the biggest vote and biggest majority of any councillor in Cardiff West in 2008.

Neil heads up economic development in the capital and is a combined honours graduate in modern languages, politics and economics. A former modern languages teacher, Neil is passionate about improving life chances and education. A former Chair of Fairwater Credit Union, Neil altered Cardiff’s economic policy to embrace credit unions and social enterprise, as well as setting up Wales’ first public venture capital fund called “Capital Cardiff”.

Neil campaigns strongly on the childrens’ rights agenda and volunteers in his free time to support parents. A fanatical Cardiff City fan, Neil hosts the Cardiff City phone in on Radio Cardiff and has his own chat show on a Tuesday.
