Mabon ap Gwynfor was born in Carmarthen in 1978, and currently works as a regional manager for one of the UK’s largest health charities. Mabon is married, with one child, and is a committed Christian and anti-war and Welsh language campaigner.

Educated at Bangor University, Mabon served as Students’ Union President there and later worked as a Press Officer for Plaid Cymru in Ceredigion, a Communications Officer for the social enterprise Antur Teifi, and as manager of the National Traditional Music Centre for Wales. Mabon has volunteering experience in music and culture, helping to organise music festivals such as Sesiwn Fawr in Dolgellau.

In the political and campaigning field, Mabon helped established Plaid Cymru’s youth movement Cymru X, was co-ordinator of the Aberystwyth Peace and Justice Network and is a member of CND Cymru. He contested the Brecon and Radnorshire seat for Plaid Cymru at the 2005 Westminster election, where he increased Plaid’s vote.
