Ioan Bellin

Ioan Bellin is the Plaid Cymru candidate for Pontypridd constituency in the Welsh General Election to be held on the 5th May 2011. He can be contacted via e-mail 


Ioan Bellin is 36 years old and works as a Press and Communications Officer for Plaid's South Wales Central Assembly Members, Chris Franks and Leanne Wood at the National Assembly.

Ioan was born in Reading and studied at Cowbridge Comprehensive and at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Ioan has political experience in election campaigns from community council level through to European elections. He is a former journalist having worked for both HTV Wales, where he reported on the first assembly elections in 1999, and for the BBC Political Unit in Belfast. Ioan remains an active member of the National Union of Journalists.

Ioan Bellin stood as the candidate for the Pontypridd constituency at the 2010 Westminster elections and is a former Chair of Plaid Cymru's youth movement.

His political interests include creating a sustainable economy and international development. He is a member of the Wales Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign, and enjoys running and playing 5 a side football as well as representing the National Assembly for Wales in their rugby team.
