Carl Harris

Carl Harris is the Plaid Cymru candidate for Swansea West constituency in the Welsh National Election to be held on the 5th May 2011. He can be contacted via e-mail at .

Carl was born in the Sandfields area of Swansea and lives Sketty Park area of the city. He was educated at Parklands Primary and Olchfa Comprehensive School before moving on to study a degree course at Trinity University College, Carmarthen. Carl, in his spare time, studies a further degree course at the University of Wales, Lampeter.

Following his time at Trinity, Carl was elected as the Deputy President of the Students’ Union for two consecutive years. He then served as the Deputy President of the National Union of Students (NUS) Wales, the largest democratic organisation in the country, representing 250,000 students nationally. Carl has sat on UK Government and Welsh Government Ministerial Advisory Groups promoting campaigns on sexual health in young people, developing the learner voice in education and tenancy deposit protection schemes.

For the past two years Carl has worked as a member of support staff for Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and former MP Adam Price in the Carmarthen East & Dinefwr constituency office. In October 2009 Carl was appointed as the party’s Constituency Organiser and led the General Election campaign which returned Jonathan Edwards as the new MP for the constituency. Carl is currently the Press and Research Officer for Jonathan Edwards MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM.
