Bethan Jenkins AM

Bethan Jenkins, 29, is the youngest Member in the Assembly. A former president of Aberystwyth Guild of Students, she was elected as a Plaid AM for South Wales West in 2007. During her time in office, she has led a series of high-profile campaigns, including achieving the £1m framework to help those with eating disorders. She has is also fighting to have the pensions of 700 former Visteon car workers restored after they were taken away following the collapse of the UK company in 2009. In her region, she has also fought to keep open care homes and schools threatened with closure by local authorities, and to save the world-important Copperopolis site in Swansea. Bethan sits on the Assembly's Petitions Committee, the Audit Committee and the Communities and Culture Committee, and she is the Plaid Cymru Spokesperson on Child Poverty and cultural issues. She is founder member and chair of the Cross Party Groups on Eating Disorders and on Human Rights. She is interested in economic development, international affairs, women's rights, asylum matters, the safeguarding of local services, and eating disorder provision in Wales.
